RIE 4900 Gray

Zinc-Rich Base coat

 GENERAL DESCRIPTION

RIE 4900 is a chrome free thermosetting base coat, which is intended to be top coated with RIE 4001 Black or can be used as a one coat system for minimal salt spray protection.

 RECOMMENDED USAGE

*  Bare steel fasteners and components that require corrosion protection and torque-N-tension values

*  Common applications include fasteners, clips, springs, stampings and sheet steel.

APPLICATION

RIE 4900 is applied using any standard liquid coating’s application technique.  Common techniques include dip/spin, coil coated and spray (conventional or electrostatic).

PERFORMANCE          

       Friction Factor (K):           .22 (1 coat over micro zinc phosphate) 

 * Salt Spray per ASTM B-117:           750 Hrs. Minimum to red corrosion.

                                                                                          200 Hrs. Minimum to white corrosion.

                              Adhesion:                                             Excellent

                              Chemical Resistance:                            Excellent                                  

* When a top coat is applied over the 4900 base coat.
