GENERAL DESCRIPTION

RIE 4031 is a silver color thermosetting epoxy coating containing a pigmented system of aluminum flake. It cross links at a PMT of 400° F and provides excellent chemical and corrosion resistance.

RECOMMENDED USAGE

* Carbon steel parts where high levels of corrosion protection are required.

* Common applications include fasteners, clips, springs, stampings and sheet steel.

* To provide a surface for subsequent painting of fasteners.

* When a higher (K) factor is needed.

APPLICATION

RIE 4031 is applied using any standard liquid coating’s application technique. Common techniques include dip/spin, coil coated and spray (conventional or electrostatic).

PERFORMANCE

1) Salt Spray per ASTM B-117: 1000 Hrs. Minimum

2) Friction Factor (K): 0.20 +/- .01

Resistant to solvents & automotive fuels

1) When applied over 2 coats of 4090.

2) Fastener was coated with 2 coats 4090 & 1 coat 4031.
