RIE 200 SERIES COATINGS

Polyvinylidene Fluoride System

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

RIE 200 series coatings are used to form a “polymer barrier” which is up to thirty mils thick. This protective coating is typically used to line chemical processing industry (CPI) vessels. It is specified because of its unique properties: unaffected by most chemicals and solvents, abrasion resistance, mechanical strength, and toughness. Examples of other industrial operations which utilize “RIE 200” include: Acid etching associated with the manufacture of electronic components; Instruments used in dairy processing; Bleaching operations in pulp & paper mills; Corrosion protection of valves, pipes, and fittings.

Typical functional performance

¨     High thermal stability. No weight loss at 250° C.

¨     Ability to self-extinguish (will not burn in air).

¨     High dielectric strength (950 volts per mil).

¨     Excellent resistance to: Weathering, ultraviolet (UV) rays, and nuclear radiation.

¨     Meets Dairy 3A standards.

These properties suggest that RIE 200’s use in applications such as electrical insulation, protection of architectural/structural members, and water treatment equipment located in nuclear power stations.
