Technical Data

RIE 1100

Corrosion Inhibiting Baking Phenolic

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

RIE 1100  is a one coat single component phenolic baked system

RECOMMENDED USAGE

            *  Provides a protective coating for all metals including  magnesium.

            *  A clean coating for computer components, magnets and assemblies

            *  Offers high degree of resistance to-  chemical corrosion, solvent softening and impact

            *  Exhibits good thermal stability.

  PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Vehicle Type

Combination of epoxy/phenolic resins and thermosetting latent curing agents

Pigmentation

Carbon Black

Color

Gloss black, Flat black

Film Thickness

.3 - .8 mils depending on properties desired

Thermal Stability

Withstands thermal shock with no sign of blistering, peeling, chipping, loss of adhesion or high temperature aging.

Corrosion Protection

ASTM B117 salt fog testing for 1,000 hours, over zinc phosphate.

Resistance

Excellent.  Unaffected by immersion in various industrial solvents and hydraulic oils (i.e. Skydrol 500, Acetone, MEK, Trichloroethane, etc.).

Impact Resistance

Minimum .375 in. deformation before loss of adhesion evidenced by cracking and peeling of coating on upset area of panel when struck with a .250 in. radius round nosed impact rod.

Dielectric Strength

Minimum insulation with 500 vac applied, 1,100 MEG OHM.  Insulation breakdown @ 500 vac minimum applied to test specimen

Abrasion Resistance

Wear life when test panels tested on tabor abrasive with #CS10 wheel installed @ 500 Gram Wgt. minimum 235 revolutions (average of 3 test specimens) minimum 225 revolutions (low test specimen).
