THE PERFECT PO
|
Incomplete purchase orders are the number one reason why orders are delayed after they hit the RIE loading docks. Many times PO's do not have adequate part descriptions, which makes it hard to find all the parts for an order. Sometimes the PO does not contain coating instructions. When these things happen we have no choice but to contact the customer and ask that a new PO be issued. We know this takes time, but it is neccesary to make sure that your order is accounted for correctly, coated to the right specification, packaged the way you need it, and shipped where you would like it to go.
BELOW ARE THE FIVE "MUST HAVE" ITEMS FOR PO'S
1. COMPLETE PART(S) DESCRIPTION
We want to make sure that we are processing your parts. With hundreds of shipments hitting our docks each day it is important that we know what parts go with your PO. A lot of time and effort is spent to make sure we have your entire order ready for coating. We need to know size, style and substrate information where applicable. If multiple parts are on one PO please list them all.
2. COMPLETE QUANTITY INFORMATION
Much like item one it is important that we know how much you sent us for processing. If there is not a piece count or weight listed for each part you send to us we have no way of knowing if it all arrived. At check in time, our receiving department will weigh or count each order against the proper PO. If this information is not on the PO, your order will not be checked until the corrected PO is in our hands. This is to protect your assets.
3. COATING INSTRUCTIONS
We want to coat your parts correctly. RIE applies close to 100 different coatings and has over 800 different processes using those coatings. It is imperative that we have correct coating information on the PO. We strongly suggest that you obtain a detailed quote from RIE for each order you are sending. Then all you need to do is reference the correct quote number. This ensures the right coatings, the right process and the correct pricing. Also please know that RIE will never mix multiple parts unless you tell us to do so.
4. PACKAGING INFORMATION
Some customers have specific packaging needs. We try to remember the needs of all of our customers but as our workforce grows it is important that you tell us what you need each time. Many careful hands will touch your order from start to finish and all of them want to make sure you are getting what you need.
5. RETURN SHIPPING INFORMATION
Finally, please let us know how you want your parts returned. If we have this information ahead of time we can schedule pickups more efficiently. There is nothing worse than having an order done on time and then waiting for the correct carrier to stop and pick it up for you.
