CAPABILITIES

RIE Coatings applies coatings to a broad range of surfaces and substrates including, but not limited to, carbon steel, stainless steel, zinc plating, aluminum, composites, plastics, rubber, copper, brass, and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology and a wealth of experience, RIE is a proven leader in providing chemical and corrosion protection, abrasion resistance, heat dissipation and dry film lubrication for your parts. Most importantly, please know that each step of the coating process is completed in-house - we do not send your parts out for any portion of the process.

One Size Does Not Fit All  (Small and Large, Heavy and Light, Handful and Container Size)
RIE Coatings can process orders as small as one piece or as large as several shipping containers. We have the capacity and flexibility to increase our production capacity quickly. RIE Coatings is an industry leader in coatings fasteners as small as an M1 (and smaller) RIE Coatings can do what most other coaters will not touch.  RIE Coatings has also coated parts that were over twenty feel long in a unique case of bridge bolts used for a a suspension bridge project in California.  RIE Coatings also has the ability to coat parts that weight several hundred pounds. RIE Coatings, through their innovative R&D department and forward thinking staff, has developed custom equipment and processes to service all the customer needs.

Pretreatment (Degreasing, Zinc and Manganese Phosphate, Sand and Media Blasting)
RIE Coatings will degrease your parts if they arrive to us with oils or other contaminants on them. This is a critical step that ensures the substrate is clean when coatings are applied. RIE Coatings utilizes a variety of substrate pretreatment processes. Zinc phosphate, manganese phosphate, sand blasting and media blasting are all used at RIE Coatings and prescribed on an individual basis. Pretreatment is the single most important step to ensure proper coating adhesion and ultimately affects the protection and performance of the parts being processed.

Applications (Spray, Dip and Spin, Dip and Drain)
RIE Coatings applies coatings in a variety of ways.  Often the application process is dictated by the coating itself, other times it is dictated by the parts, other times it is dictated by the customer.  RIE Coatings operates several dip spin lines for bulk processing parts.  RIE Coatings operates lines that utilize large 24” wide baskets and several “mini” dip spin lines for processing small batch parts.  RIE Coatings also offers many types of hand spray processes for large or specialty parts.  RIE Coatings is one of the few coaters to rack and spray washers to achieve a smooth even finishes that also results in zero part rejection.  Smaller washers that have been dip spun tend to nest, or stick, together.  In some cases up to 50% can be stuck together after this processing.  Rack and spray applications make sure this does not happen.  For this reason, RIE Coatings hand sprays several hundred million washers annually that cannot be bulk processed.  Some other items that RIE Coatings sprays may fit perfectly in the dip spin machines but to avoid thread damage or touch marks they are hand sprayed.  This includes double ended studs, like the ones used in the wind industry.  RIE Coatings also hand sprays large 500 plus pound cylinders used in the oil and gas industries.

Class 10,000 Clean Room
RIE Coatings operates a Class 10,000 clean room to process parts that cannot be contaminated during the coating process. Typically these parts, such as screws and nuts, are used in the computer hard drive industry where a small spec of dust could render a hard drive inoperable.

Batch Ovens, Belt Ovens & Infrared Curing
To cure the coatings, RIE Coatings utilizes several belt ovens with multi zone heating and cooling.  RIE Coatings also has several large walk in batch ovens for hand spray items and also offers infrared curing for smaller parts.

Packaging, Shipping & Inventory Management
RIE Coatings can custom bag, label and box customer parts as needed.  RIE Coatings also offers custom kitting of parts and can manage inventory on site making coating and delivery of your parts a one step process.
